How to choose a mask
Industry News 2020-05-22 14:30
Commonly used masks can be divided into several categories, specific considerations are as follows:

1. Disposable medical mask: It is more convenient to wear, but the protective effect is poor. It can only prevent respiratory droplets and external droplets. It acts as a barrier and barrier. It is mainly used in dense places in non-epidemic areas. It can protect the droplets generated during the conversation to avoid mutual infection. However, it does not have waterproof function, so the protective effect is relatively poor;

2. Blue disposable medical surgical mask: it has a certain waterproof effect and stronger protective function. It is recommended that the wearing group is professional medical personnel, and can be worn when contacting suspected patients, which can play a certain protective role. However, the tightness is poor, so it is not recommended to use this mask when contacting diagnosed patients or high-risk groups. You can use a more protective mask;

3. Medical protective mask: The protective effect is better, that is commonly known as N95 mask, which can effectively fit on the face and prevent bacteria and viruses from eroding the respiratory tract. The use of such masks in diagnosed patients can also prevent their own droplets with bacteria and viruses from spreading to others, and the protection effect is very good. And these masks have been shaped and can fit on the nose;

4. Particulates with an exhalation valve filter through the mask: Because of the exhalation valve, breathing is smoother than wearing a protective mask, but the exhaled gas can be discharged through the exhalation valve. When the suspected or confirmed patient uses this mask, the filtering effect of bacteria and viruses is relatively poor.

But generally in public places where the crowd is dense or where there is a possibility of mutual infection, there is a certain protective effect, which can prevent external bacteria from eroding. Because the exhalation valve is unidirectional, it only allows exhaled gas, but does not allow external droplets to enter the mouth and nose, so the protection effect is good.

In short, everyone can choose to wear according to their environment and occupation. Special people, such as the elderly or children, have poor respiratory function. When contacting undiagnosed or suspected patients, you can wear a mask with an exhalation valve to breathe more smoothly.

If there are special problems or doubts about wearing a mask, you can check it on the website of the State Food and Drug Administration. For medical personnel engaged in high-risk occupations, in addition to wearing strict protective medical protective masks, some other auxiliary protective measures may be required, including goggles and protective clothing, so as to play a better protective effect.

In addition, simple masks that are common on the market, including cotton and reusable masks, are not recommended to be worn when the epidemic is serious, because the protective effect is relatively poor, and it may not be able to play a good protective effect.

Therefore, if you need to contact a suspected or confirmed patient, in addition to masks, goggles, protective clothing, gloves and hand hygiene are very important. Only when comprehensive protection is achieved can the best protection be achieved.
